Domenico Scarlatti was born on October 26, 1685. Scarlatti was creator of the modern keyboard technique and was the first to use arpeggios and hand crossings. Scarlatti married twice and nine children. In 1738 he was honored with knighthood from King John V of Portugal. His most popular works are his keyboard sonatas. Scarlatti died on July 23, 1757. He is considered to be the founder of the modern school of keyboard technique.
